Buy Local with Most Wanted Vodka made in Atchison, KS.
With seven generations of experience and a whole lot of luck, Seth Fox and his family decided to open a small-scale distillery in 2005. The High Plains Distillery, which produces the locally- and nationally-acclaimed Most Wanted brand of spirits, was borne out of a desire to produce small-batch, high-quality spirits using the best locally-produced grains. Seth Fox and his family built their distillery from the ground up on their farmstead in rural Kansas around the Leavenworth area. Initially devoted to producing vodka, the family-run distillery now produces a wide line of spirits. Their spirits have received numerous accolades and awards, beating out some of the top-dollar national brands in blind taste tests. This Kansas-based distillery has received nationwide attention for their high-quality products and their continued devotion to age-old distilling practices. The company has been growing steadily, and is now enjoyed in Kansas, Missouri, Texas, Illinois, South Dakota, Georgia, and California. In 2009, sales topped $1.5 million, making Most Wanted a true local success story!

CAMPARI... What is it and what can I do with it?

What is it?
Campari is an Italian aperitif, known most for its strong, bitter flavor and vivid red color. Bakon Vodka has been the preferred ingredient for "carniverous cocktails" since it recently came on the scene. Bartenders have found that the savory aspect of bacon makes a great dominant profile in a cocktail like a Bakon martini with a blue cheese-stuffed olive. But it can also take the back seat, with bacon's smoky flavor subtly enhancing the taste in a concoction like a Chocolate Martini. You can find it and more recipes in Prairie Village and Lenexa.

Emily and Molly of Lenexa have a couple of suggestions for the Halloween weekend. Emily recommends the Bogle "Phantom", a red wine blended of Old Vine Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and Old Vine Mourvdre. Vivid essence of black pepper, dark fruit and juniper haunts the nose, while brighter flavors of blackberries glance off the palate. Like Halloween, it shows up just once a year. Try it before it vanishes again.
Molly likes the Vampyre Vodka. Wickedly smooth, with an unsettling red color, it was developed in England as a way to satisfy certain distinguished "spirit" drinkers who might have otherwise chosen a less social way to quench their unyielding thirst.
